Exit the game, my Lord?

February 7th, 2008 · 21 Comments · Gaming

As I was down with a very persistent Alberta flu, I’ve rediscovered my first war and resource management strategy game that I’ve played, Lords of the Realm II. This game is in my opinion one of the most underrated of all times, probably the one that got me hooked on PC gaming, featuring superb real time battles with great graphics for 1997 and a lot of game-feel when playing the resource management turn based part of it. I’m not gonna try and write down a professional review, but I will bring up the many points that got me so hooked up, again, to finishing the main campaigns and killing some computer enemies in the skirmish mode.

You’re basically fighting up to 4 AI players, which all have quite varied strategies, going from building huge strong castles to acquiring as many counties as possible in order to expand the available men and resources power. Also, you can interact with these handsome characters in various ways, which can lead to different behaviors. It gets quite funny, trust me. As a bonus, listen to the end game song, the messages received from the other players and make sure you play all battles in real time, it’s a lot of fun and you have a better chance at winning, plus it’s always nice to destroy the enemy’s fields and kill the cows.

All of that being said, I’ve made the install pack available for free download, I’m sure I know a few people who’d like to be reminded of the good old times back in high-school.

Ok, let’s get digging, get the game from here.

Later edit: As far as I can see, this entry gets lots of hits so in order to make it easier for my fellow Lords of the Realm fans to get the game, I added one more download link to speed up things a bit. Enjoy.

Oldyes are very good around 2-3 am. I play Constructor: Street Wars as my favorite oldye. I don’t know when it came out but I remember I first played it when i was 15yo. The game is about gangs, street wars, influence, dirty jobs(or “combinatii” as we say in Romania ^^), etc.

Here is a review on GO.

WWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEE IS THE FREE DOWNLOAD DUMASS!!!!!!!!

  • Ted

Joshua, dude, it says LINK HERE, down at the bottom. Do you need glasses?

  • scott

yo how do i mount it in order to play or do i need to burn a disc to have in the rom drive? it tells me that it doesn’t register the sierra which im guessing means its not recognizing a platform to read from….thanks for the DL tho…been looking for this game for prolly a week before i got ur copy

  • Ted

Scott: No man, just unzip it and run the .exe file. It’s pretty straightforward.

  • scott

i unzipped it but when i rean the .exe the screen flashed like it was going to run and then it went back to the folder. is it not vista compatible maybe?

  • scott

i figured it out….had to download dosbox. if anyone else has this problem this is the fix.

download dosbox (google it you will find it)

in the c-prompt you have to type in the directory for the file the .exe is in

once you have mounted the game into c: (mount c c:\**place you directory here**) get to the c: prompt by typing just that “c:”

    once there type “dir”

look for the file name of the .exe or just type it from memory and the game will load in a small window. to make it full screen hit alt+enter

hope this helps if any one else is having trouble.

  • Anthony

Shit.. I missed the game didn’t I? I’ve been trying to find a way to make this work on PC for years now. I’ve bought the game off of Ebay twice and neither copy works.

Oh how I long to experience this game again…

  • John

This is a dead link….don’t bother.

  • jim
