Happy people killing Barbies

April 23rd, 2008 · 57 Comments · Odd stuff

A couple months ago I was somewhat amused by the Barbie killing ladies from Barbie Massacre so I decided to try and get in touch with them.
Meanwhile I got to know a little bit about them (thanks ladies, I appreciate it very much) and I’m ready for a detailed follow-up, with the pictures of the gory modern art and everything. Try and keep your eyes on the text and send the kids to bed, you don’t want that kind of art in your living room. (click on the pictures for full size)

As Catherine, the criminal mastermind behind these morbid yet humorous scenes, assures me, these six ladies involved in the project are all of sound body and mind who happen to share “a slight fascination for the macabre”.

The gang of six ladies (4 married and 2 single in case someone’s wondering, I know I did in the first place) invested 3 months and the budget of 40 sets of Barbie/Ken dolls for their 15 completed scenes masterpiece, says Jesse, one of the main authors.

As the same very nice Jesse said to me, they’re hoping to add more morbid modern art scenes. Well, thank you so much ladies and I’m hoping to be there to witness the results. Maybe this will get you motivated to relapse soon.

Ted You ROCK…You have inspired me to write just to correct a few little things you wrote or thoughts you thought… I Melissa am the Master Mind behind Barbie Crime Scenes. I, in a day of haze sometime in July 2007 turned to Sarah and said you know I think I want to kill some Barbies. Sarah in her usual confussed way says that I am sick and need help before jumping eagerly in to the conversation of how. After several days of thinking it out I deceiced that this would have to be our (Jesse and mine) theme to our annual Halloween party. Excited by the deceicion and support of the lovely Jesse I told Catherine of our plans…She loved it. She is as sick as I am. We started to buy Barbie products from Goodwills everywhere. So when the killing began we code named as cards and invited are usual crowed… Only so many people can handle a bloody Barbie…Leaving us with the six that could. As to the Blog that is Catherine’s baby.

We are planning future edtions with the same and new artist…Some men will take part in this…Lets see if you can tell the difference.

This years Halloween Party is already in the planning stages the theme is “An Enchanted Evening at the Haunted Mansion” Yes, Disney! Does anyone know where to find Princess Barbie Dolls?

  • Jamie

I actually find these pictures really disturbing, especially the one with Ken choking Barbie underwater. It bothers me that such violence against women (or in this case, representations of women) can be found entertaining.

  • Melissa

I honestly don’t think that Barbies should be considered Representations of Women and we are HERE TO STOP THAT!

  • Trevor Hansel

Melissa, just a question…do you kill baby animals for fun??

  • brandon

You people are pretty screwed up. Have fun with your sick little fantasies and delusions of grandeur.

  • Ted

LoL. These comments rule, I like seeing the different takes people have on great clean fun. Melissa, go ahead and do it again. It’s a challenge!
    –Ted

  • Cybrspin

Jamie, how come you don’t care about the men dieing in these pics. Not even a single word. (cough **feminist** cough)

  • Kat

Could this be a new trend?

  • Jesse

We all here at Barbie Crime Scenes would like to think and hope that we could or did start a trend. The reaction these photos and our crime scenes have had, has just been unbelievable (Thanks in part to Ted of course - you rock!) We are considering placing a crime scene on ebay to see well it does, or if there is any interest at all. If you want to help MAKE this a trend, please tell everybody about it, spread the news about barbiecrimescenes.blogspot.com and make sure the props go to us :) Afterall, we did work REALLY hard!! We will be setting up a myspace page soon as well as well as adding more photos of the crime scenes already made and adding crime scenes as well - including more artists as Melissa mentioned above. Thank you all for your interest and we will be opening up the blog to Anonymous comments soon…

  • Melissa

Baby animals…Trevor do we know each other? I have never and will never hurt or kill a living being. Barbies maybe your childhood friend, but she will never breath and there for taking a dolls life seems harmless. I mean atlease we didn’t hack up the life size Barbies…OR have we?

As to a Trend, people make it what it is. The more interest the more likly someone else is sitting at home cutting up Barbies or something along throughs lines. This is a great outlet and no one gets hurt! But what really make a trend is it 6 pages on Google, a blog on Ted’s Game, Peoples interest in the crazy side of our minds?

“I actually find these pictures really disturbing, especially the one with Ken choking Barbie underwater. It bothers me that such violence against women (or in this case, representations of women) can be found entertaining.”

the depictions of violence towards women in these pictures are less disturbing than those that are acted out on television or in movies. i would be willing to bet that you find both tv and film an enjoyable source of entertainment. also you should try to remember that barbie is in many ways a harmful depiction of what a real women should look like, and that our little girls have ended up growing up anorexic or bulemic because of a self image that barbie helped to warp.

as melissa said “I honestly don’t think that Barbies should be considered Representations of Women” and if it helps you should try thinking of these pictures in a metaphorical manner. as if they are saying let’s end the sick mind-set of perfection that barbie peddles to our daughters

oh and keep in mind that the barbie crime scenes were CREATED BY WOMEN, not men

  • Jamie

    1. I don’t really have much to say about the men in these pictures because they obviously aren’t the focus here.

    2. I find these pictures more disturbing than most scenes in TV or movies because much of this kind of violence is censored from most TV and movies. For what it’s worth, I find that kind of violence equally discomforting in any media, so I’m not just singling out the Barbies here. I know it’s all over, and that’s depressing.

    3. I agree that Barbies are ill-proportioned to the human body, but I don’t feel like that’s really brought into play with this project. It’s just straight-up violence.

I guess most unsettling to me were the more realistic portrayals, such as the Barbies with the black eyes. There are many women who wind up looking like that every day due to abusive relationships.

I realize that some people are going to like this stuff, and that’s totally fine, I just wanted to leave my opinion so that you could know that not everyone finds this hilarious, and maybe just think about it a little bit.

  • Melissa

tHINKING ABOUT IT………nOT STRAIGHT UP VIOLENCE BUT FUN!!! iF SO DISTRUBING THEN WHY DO YOU KEEP VISITING THE PAGE? If you go to barbiecrimescenes.blogspot.com you will see that we enjoy killing Ken as well. I am okay with your opinion and personally know that this is not for everyone.

  • Ted

Oh wow. I am in complete shock of how many people were offended by this. It’s almost funny, but it’s not.

  • Cybrspin

    OMG THEY KILLED KEN!!

You know someone had to do it, I been holding that in for awhile :P

“1. I don’t really have much to say about the men in these pictures because they obviously aren’t the focus here.”

    Lol.

So male life has no value because there aren’t enough of them in these depictions. Give me a break. Fuckin hypocrite. It’s ok to kill men barbies in these pics as long as you limit the amount but it’s not ok to kill female barbies because there are more.

And come on this is far less graphic the CSI.

  • Jesse

All yee who are interested - more pics have been put up on barbiecrimescenes.blogspot.com. Never before seen…scene :) and pictures taken before the crimes occurred :)

  • Melissa

tHANK YOU CYBRSPIN…I couldn’t agree more.

My favorite is the Barbie with her brains spilling out, in fact I have an 8 by 10 framed photo hanging on my wall (it helps me sleep at night)

Most people really like the Hooker Barbie (or beaten Barbie)created by Crystal (amazing brusing action going on there)

All 6 of us agree that the Drowning barbie is creepy is a very cool way.

Jesse is stuck in the middle of Decapitated Barbie, Asphyixated Barbie and Hanging Barbie.

What’s your favorite Barbie Crime Scene and why?

  • Cybrspin

Not sure if i can pick a favorite, but, I do tend to love the head in the bag. Something about it makes me all tingly inside. P
Every guy likes a little head right :P
Would love to see more done with maybe industrial accidents.

    Cheers
    Cybrspin

As promised, Barbie Crime Scenes now has a Myspace page - check it out! http://www.myspace/barbiecrimescenes We would love to have your comments over there as well! I will be linking Ted to our page as well ;)

  • Alyssa

that is awsome i need to try that with my old barbies

  • Sarah

    @ Kat:

I agree…This is the second thing I’ve seen like this today. very odd. who thinks of these things? artistic in a way but also kinda creepy

  • ELBSeattle

I love how people tend to anthropromorphise assembled bits of plastic. Cutting up Barbies and painting them red is pretty much the only normal thing a person could do. Buying new dresses and cars for them and making them walk around and talk? Now THAT’S fucked up…

  • umit

    fuck you jerk

  • amazing

These are super! I wish I had thought of this…are these displayed anywhere?

  • Jesse

All of the scenes above and all the dead Barbies AND Kens are stored in my garage :) They were brought out for Halloween decorations as that is where the original idea stemmed from…our annual Halloween Party’s theme for the year 2007. We absoulutely LOVE that so many people are interested in our art form and hope to expand the collection.

  • Kellyg

I say, ‘death to the Bratz’! Leave the poor barbies be!

  • Anonymous

Anyone who complains that these pictures depict violence against women as entertainment clearly don’t “get it”

These were also made by a bunch of women.

Personally I think these women have created something awful which poses no artistic merit, but I think it is safe to assume that most people aren’t going to look at these and think “wow, a man strangling a women underwater, THAT’S HILARIOUS!”

  • KrIsTeN

HAHA :) thats funny i would totally do that but…I DONT HAVE NO FREAKIN BARBIE’S… so ha but if i did i would, i use to do that but not that kool i just took off their heads and colored it red and yea thats it! :) :-)

About 12 years ago, I caught my 10 year old daughter and her friend cutting the breasts off one of her Barbies, and using nail polish remover to remove her make-up. They were turning her into a Ken, because between the 2 of them they only had 1 Ken! My husband and I had a good laugh over it, then at dinner that night I told him to pull the meat out of the freezer. He found a mini wrapped package with the breasts in!!! We had an ongoing thing with it. To get me back about a month later, he wrapped a pair of Barbie legs and put them in the freezer. Sick? I think not! Just fun!

  • Brandon

i respect that… great work i almost wanna go byw a couple hundred in barbies just to ruin em’. rofl
